'World's richest 1% get 82% of the wealth', says Oxfam
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42745853

Despite the words of Talkin about a Revolution Tracy Chapman back in 1988 ( 30 years ago!)

"Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs"

Clearly the poor are always with us
If for no other reason we are the poor ( relatively speaking )

It doesn't matter what technologies or processes are deployed in pursuit of "true democracy" as there will always be a vocal minority who squeal like stuffed pigs if they don't get their own way.

They get what THEY want (and fuck everybody else) then the system's fine and doesn't need tinkering with.

They lose, everybody's a cunt and the victim card is sure to soon follow, with a tsunami of derogatory insults to back it up.

To be honest Will its about adapting to new ideas and technologies with the intention of getting a far more representative system of government, which is what the "people have spoken" implies. If the people speak then they should be speaking all the time rather than chuntering on the sidelines.

"Then its not "the voice of the people". It was a snapshot of the view of the people at one moment in time. The "voice of the people' is always shifting..."
------------------

Then what you are talking about is always a problem of democracy when governments cannot possibly change things over night. That's the problem here. Leavers would happily have left the EU by now. It's contractual obligations and remainers, together with useless politicians slowing the whole process up. So. What's the alternative to a democratic vote then BRAINDEAD? A dictator making decisions for us all?

"direct democracy is fine if you have an educated population with the ability to see both sides of an argument and make up their own minds about the issue."
------------------------------------------------------------
Really? You are just so non-self-aware Gavros. Forget the issue mate. Think about the benefits of living in a democracy for a moment. Why are you so comfortable about giving away your's and all of our rights to democratic self-determination?

That's why so many other remainer politicians are following through to deliver Brexit but just don't have the will or gumption to deliver it properly. Personally, I agree with what Farage said the other day. Another referendum would decide once and for all before UK embarks on a neo-Brexit. That I would support.

direct democracy is fine if you have an educated population with the ability to see both sides of an argument and make up their own minds about the issue.

as has quite clearly been demonstrated on here the past year and a half, we are a million miles from that.

Then its not "the voice of the people". It was a snapshot of the view of the people at one moment in time. The "voice of the people' is always shifting as news and events and information changes. If you wish to have a plebiscite you need to continually refer to the wise people for their guidance. This is entirely possible and is used in places like Switzerland and some places in the USA.
Direct democracy will eventually take over everywhere when the right kind of technology is developed. Blockchain might be the answer.

So why not give "the people" their say every day on every topic? We have all the technology and information has never been more freely available. Certain super important laws coukd be continually revisited as new information becomes abailable.

"A good start would be trying to gain popular support by actually governing well rather than pitting people against each other with shit like Brexit, master."
----------------------

So do you mean that "governing well" means not giving the people a democratic choice as it only pits the citizens against each other when they decide they like their independence and want to leave the EU?

Because if you do, isn't there a danger that UK just becomes another vassal state run by a dictator like Putin does in Russia? Or that it stays as a vassal state of the EU bureaucracy?
